• This is probably one of the few times I'm going to say this: loved the romance, could've dumped everything else about it.
• I like Lo's makeout scenes, lol.  But IDK about Amber always being associated with candy.  That might be a writing tic, or it might actually have plot purposes.  I'm not sure which.

First of all, this is a companion novel to Lo's debut novel, Ash, set centuries before hand.  You might remember Lo's Ash for the buzz it got as a lesbian retelling of Cinderella.

tl;dr:  Sherlock Holmes: ok movie.  Don't see it in theaters, wait for rental.
The Serpent and the Rose: real nice and smooth read.  won't read the rest of the trilogy though
Ash: the lesbian brouhaha worked against it.  book was eh, but an author to watch
Santa Olivia:  best book of the bunch.  probably will read sequel
